The primer had cured on the hull, the imperfections in the fiberglass had been repaired, the scribe lines were complete, the hatches had been manufactured, the Ultra-Flat Black Krylon® paint had been purchased and it was a beautiful day outside. I just had to do it! The hull sections were painted individually atop my large trash can and let dry in the hot sun. And ... when I say hot ... the hull got extremely hot to the touch. Hopefully, the heat made for a tight bond with the fiberglass. After cooling down a bit in the shade, I put the two hull halves together and set it back outside to get these pics. Mighty impressive if I do say so myself. The inside components were removed for spraying, but they will soon be re-installed. I just had to see what this monster was going to look like. Additional work has to be done to both the inside and outside, and this will be narrated on this and other pages. Next Step - Part 4e - Painting the hull (continued) |
