Los Angeles Fireboat 2
MAIN DECK

Part 2 - Forward Main Deck

I´m manufacturing the Forward Main Deck from Celtec: 8mm (deck), 4mm (bulkhead support), 3mm (beauty piece aft) and 2mm (port/starboard rub rail supports).

The piece seen here is the 2mm port rub rail support.
The forward part of the main deck is higher than the rest. Since the foam has been removed, I had to manufacture a bulkhead support that will not only raise the deck, but also provide a groove for the aft section to slide into. This should eliminate the need for bolting and also direct any water aft instead of inside the boat.

The bulkhead support serves another purpose as well. It prohibits the hull sides from bending in during extreme temperatures.

Here, you can see the Forward Main Deck in place with the starboard rub rail support installed.
Looking from the stern, you can see a better view of the bulkhead support and beauty piece just above the hull. It´s a little hard to see the groove for aft section of the Main Deck, but the groove runs horizontally from port to starboard.
