I began removing excess material from the top by using a jigsaw to cut around the hull. A smooth cut jigsaw blade was used. Next, a single edge razor blade was used to complete the process. As you can see, I left some excess material on top to lift the hull off the table while working on the bottom to minimize denting the foam during the shaping process. |

The SurForm® Pocket Plane and SurForm® Hand Plane were used to begin rounding the bow and stern sections. As stated before, these tools are wonderful for removing excess foam. |

| This side view depicts the hull coming to shape. More material must be removed, but I needed a break to clean up. Besides, it was threatening rain, and everything had to be brought inside the garage. |

As a perspective, the hull is sitting on a 6´ long table. Notice also, the edges of the hull are up from the table due to the excess material left on top. |
