The hull was constructed using the "lost foam" method, which means the foam used to shape the hull will be lost after Fiberglassing is complete. Two sheets of one-inch, pink, polystyrene foam was purchased at the local Home Depot store. These sheets were 4´ X 8´ in size and were perfect for the job. I used the top view from the scale drawings to mark out and then cut the shapes needed. Each sheet provided enough material for four sections, and a total of eight sections were cut out. |
| A single edge razor blade was used to rough cut the sections from the sheets, and then the trim cut was accomplished using a band saw. |

Prior to gluing the sections together, another scale side view was printed and trimmed to show only the hull section. This will be used after the sections are glued (see Part 2) below. |
