Los Angeles Fireboat 2
BOAT DECK STRUCTURE

Part 3a - Bulkheads and lockers (continued)

To highlight the steps of the Boat Deck Up/Down Stairway, I purchased some WireForm material from my local craft store. It is made of aluminum and resembles the grating design for marine steps and walkways.

Prior to installing this material, I painted the stairway (and adjacent bulkhead) with gray primer.
I used a pair of scissors to cut each step and then simply glued them onto the stairway. Here, you can see a closer view.
And ... here you can see a view with the stairway inside the Boat Deck.
The handrail, made from plastic rod by Plastruct (see their web site link on my Links page), was installed in two (2) steps. First, I drilled holes into the bulkhead for the handrail mounts and inserted a small piece of plastic rod. Then, after the glued had cured, I glued the plastic rod to the mounts. Final cleanup was accomplished by sanding the extra material away from the back side of the bulkhead.
