Continuing the bulkhead fabrication, I cut two pieces of Celtec and glued them to the forward, angled sections. This was pretty straight forward. As you can see, I'll need a little bit of filler and some sanding to complete the process. |
|
After completing the bulkheads, it was time to begin fabricating the pieces for the Fuel Fill & Vents locker (starboard), the Engine Room Escape locker (port) and the entry for the Boat Deck Up/Down Stairway (aft & upper deck). |

Gluing everything together was pretty straight forward, but it was also time consuming. I took my time making sure the lockers were level and square. The lockers will not be glued to the structure itself just yet because they will be easier to paint first. Besides, I want to be able to fabricate the Boat Deck Up/Down Stairway, handrail and Escape locker hatch first. These will also be easier to install prior to gluing the lockers in place. |

Here, you can see the exterior openings for these two lockers. Keep in mind, the structure itself is upside down at the moment. The top photograph shows the Engine Room Escape locker (port). The bottom photograph shows the Fuel Fill & Vents locker (starboard) and the Boat Deck Up/Down Stairway (aft ). |

The Boat Deck Up/Down Stairway (aft ), purchased from Plastruct (see their web site link on my Links page), was cut to length and glued onto the bulkhead. I´ll also manufacture the handrails prior to completing this section of the Boat Deck. |
